Challenge update - 4/29/2008
The Old Spice Experience Challenge titled Fshguy's Give one of the skin jobs a Viral Badge has ended. buttons37 has successfully destroyed the competition... even managing to pull z36's underwear over their head on the last day. Good times. A total gain of 2,240 was enough for the win this time... and it only took 7 days!
When you count it up on the final day, all 22 challengers gained 1075 points. buttons37 added 625, xMac73 added 180, OnWithTheShow added 95, Monky Spit added 55, Fshguy added 50, botafogo007 added 30, kaens added 20, DarthSonny added 10, Aldogg33 added 5, and Frostbite added 5. There can be only one first place... but thanks goes out to the other 21 for being good rivals.

Well z36 kept his word. he don't condone cheating but his actions and attempt to make good on his mistake has gotten him my respect.

Somehow I knew that's exactly what that was going to be and yet I was still compelled to go just so I would know I was right.
Apparently there is an orange box glitch that gives you 1k in the game upon its use. It's similar to the old assassins creed glitch but its not a 2nd profile swap or a gamesave.

Well it is a rare problem in universe at war but VERY frequent in over-g Kaens is having a problem with all his games though and the only thing I can think of that would make the 360 freeze so easily is that it is having overheating problems or something - but I doubt very much that his problem is something simple like overheating considering how long he has been gaming on the 360 and how hardcore he is capable of being. Maybe his xbox is on its way out >.>
so what does this tell us... don't play overG and don't play universe at war... lol i've never had any problems like that. mostly just had 3 rings (3 times now). << the xbox i'm on now has almost made it two years though >> is that right? can't be... if no one puts up a lot of points this is going to be a steal of a challenge.
YES! My 360 is acting just like OverG does! Where you earn the achievement, it locks up when you are supposed to get your bloop. Then I sign back in and I have the achievement, but the progress is gone and I have to redo what I just did again. Which totally sucks in Katamari because I can't remember where those damn presents and cousins were! Sheesh!
Kaens - my 360 has been disconnecting a LOT from live on the dashboard since the update (not as much when in a game) but the only game that I have experienced freezing in is the 360 version of universe at war which I think is a problem that is unrelated to live and affects all universe at war 360 discs.
The only other game I can think of that has really bad freezing problems is over-g.
I actually enjoyed over-g but the fact that EVERYTIME I unlocked an achievement the game would freeze and make me re-do the same mission over again was so annoying I havent touched that game since like late 2006.
Last week. They even sent mail remember? And the week before that there was an update too, they never said what these things do. Well it just happened again, another 2 hours gone! I'm taking a nap, screw this.

ARG I'm losing my mind here! My cable issue was resolved, then last night it goes out again, no DNS server for 12 hours. Supposedly my entire state was affected yet the first person I talked to had no idea about it.
On top of that, every time I earn an achievement my elite freezes up. Which means for Katamari (which I've been playing) I often loose 2+ hours of work because I don't go compulsively save after ever little mission. I thought it was just Rocky & Bullwinkle the other night, but has anyone else been having this problem since the update?
Ballers isn't that hard. The game play is blah, but I got 300 in one night and I can't connect online to work on the online stuff.
BTW I hate to speak on this before the challenge ends but at the rate things are going Z36 will be one of the few 'non-legit' gamers out there that have my respect. Others being gamers like the lazy wolf whom despite not being legit actually did have a very high gamerscore before cheating took hold of xbox live.
I actually purchased NBA ballers online but when it arrived it was like someone took a box cutter all over the case so i sent it back so I havent had the chance to play it yet.... but it is immoral for sports games to have really hard achievements. If it turns out that nba ballers is on par with games that have hard achievements then I know a certain company that will be slapped with an 87.84 TRILLION dollar lawsuit!

ARG, after my speech about playing offline last week, my cable went out last night. I called Comcast, and they were supposed to send someone out to my house today but I obviously have been at work. The problem is outside of my house, the kids or someone has been screwing with the box that houses the cable stuff in the backyard.
Anyhow I'm about to go home and see if they fixed it. Seeing how I just checked my messages and I had 6 messages from them today, I doubt they did. And when I call them they are going to give me some crappy excuse and then tell me they can't get someone out til next week. All weekend with no internet or tv, wtf! Just to keep my streak alive yesterday I had to have my son take Katamari and my memory card to a neighbor's house to update my score!

You are never too young to start gaming! My son used to sit next to me before he was 1 holding the N64 controller pounding buttons. Then when he was only 2-3 he used to stand in front of the tv with the lightgun playing House of the Dead on Dreamcast. I have pictures of him at age 5 in his pjs playing Goldeneye on his pokemon n64. Now he's one of those annoying kids killing you on GoW ;)

It's impossible to find ranked/conquer the world matches... takes like 30 minutes just to get one match yet player matches are EXTREMELY easy to find.
Are these people stupid? achievements dont unlock in player matches, what a bunch of jerks.

I'll be trying to throw up some points here and there where I can ... so as long as z36 isn't posting first place points, maybe I can still have a shot at my coveted 12th spot ...

4 days, I might have to bring some fire out now since I know where the bar is set at now. Z36 did an honorable thing by confessing and its up to us now to knocked him out.
The man has spoken...1870 is the mark...let's see if it will fall or if z36 has already won it.
2nd playthrough on Jumper is only a couple hours... your weapon is much more powerful, so quite easy until the last couple bosses.
I think as long as Z36 doesn't rack up any more points for the challenge this will correct itself. The winner better have more than 2k points or I'll come win it myself. I hate to cause more work for CA, FC, SP in this case.

Favorite Online game--Halo 3. Almost finished the campaign in just 7 short months. Great. Favorite offline game--Assassin's Creed, where she's done 2 of the 9 assassinations so far. Wow, I'm inspired.
Agreed...it's stupidity. Put the spotlight on an accomplished gamer or prominent xbox community member. I could name 50 people I'd like to see in the spotlight who are regular xbox forum contributors...but instead they pick her --- it's totally whack!!!
yea that's pretty ridiculous. xbox has been out what 3 years? that's less then 3 games a year.
according to my marketing class she is just a butterfly whereas the real profitability comes from the 'true friends'. that would be people like us save for Z.

I sneezed out of town once and unlocked 400+ gamerpoints back at my homes 360. Nothing wrong with having a low gamerscore but MS needs to stop posting people that hardly touch their 360 as 'gamer spotlights'
Off topic here but does anyone else think its complete BS that people that hardly play on the 360 at all get gamerspotlights?
Seriously the last 5 or 6 game spotlights have all been people with UNDER 2,000 gamerpoints most of which were under 1,000. The current gamer spotlight is some girl that has like 3 games in her play history and only 600ish points.

Two things - the last challenge started on the weekend and this challenge we have people like myself purposely holding back to see what happens with Z36 before I score.
This looks like its gonna be a low scoring match last match someone had over 1k by the 2nd day in this match the top scorer hasn't even reached 1,000 yet
Whenever I have an extra $8 lying around, I'll head to Blockbuster and rent 'Jumper' again to finish up the last 150 I need for 1K --- I just hate having such an easy (yet horrible) game on my account without a full 1K. I've already gone through it twice --- I just couldn't bear to go through it again on my first rental, but now that 850 is killing me.
Jumper is a fast 500 but beyond 500 its easy just takes a very long day or two. You can't get 1000 in jumper in 1 play through depending on how well you play it it could potentially take up to three play throughs for a thousand - and the game is NOT that much fun ; ; I stopped at 500 in that game.
I would take it but I don't have any games that I can drop 1000 points in 5 days.
I'm playing Jumper because I have like 3 days left on a game pass I need to use. I probably won't even play tonight :).
Other than that I'm going to be working on my completion percentage for the most part, though I may drop another easy game just for good measure. What I'm saying is...if someone wants the viral its yours for the taking--I doubt I'll really be contending. I mostly just join these challenges for fun.
I can't afford that. I only really have two new games. Mass Effect and Lost Odyssey and from what I hear neither are great for easy achievements.
Yeah...I'm playing Eragon right now (left over from last challenge). Don't be deceived though --- it's harder than it's made out to be. And, I've still got games I didn't touch from my last challenge --- but only to stay competitive. :)
i can still put up a LOT of points...Let alone i never played any of the "easY achievement" launch games. Matter fact..I "could" put up probably 6000 If i looked for the titles. BUT me being who i am, i try for the "hard Achievements" Like right now, I'm tryin to achieve in Virtua Fighter 5
7000 or 6000 week after week, I really don't see it happening, I think the most maybe someone might put up 4000.
I'm not in this challenge for the Viral Badge or to win --- I just like to compete --- winning is a just reward for honorable gameplay. So, I say this with all due respect...and I mean all due respect...z36 should be kicked (sorry dude.) I respect you for coming clean --- that shows a lot of courage (thanks), but you did so only after being called out (it was so obvious anyway).
The legitimacy of the fish's challenge should be restored --- for everyone's sake.
you really think only 3 people in this challenge can compete with that? i'm pretty sure kaens put up 7000+ in a week and jc put up close to what 6000 last week? i think there are several others that could do that easily. i mean look at vengance there are probably plenty of 'easy' games he could play if he wanted it. i wouldn't count anyone out with 5 days to go.

There's only three people that can compete with that so the way I see it is what does it matter. Botagfrog already has a Viral badge so he only get challenge points to get 2* HTTK badge. I am alright with it I have no chance of winning with or without you on top.
That would really suck and I would have to kill my friend if that happened. Seeing that its not my fault and it took so long to get my gamerscore this high. If I was boosting my score should be 200,000 or something nuts like that. I hope MS does not.

Thanks z36 for coming clean on this problem. if i was u i wouldn't let no1 use ur account period regardless of the situation. i say that not because of experience but because something like that happened to my lil bro. wasn't boosting GS or anything but he ended up getting a lot of negative feedback because he let a friend play a multiplayer game and those ppl didn't like his friends language.

I let a friend of mine use my account to try something and didn't know he was going to do. I do not like boosting and I should have known better because he has done it before. I don't know what he did but I'm a very mad right now because I told him not to do before. He will not get my account again. I don't like friends like this. Like I said Fshguy should boot me because it's not fair to everyone else.

the fifa one I was sitting on for sometime. I'm going to finish LP today. Fshguy you can boot me if you want. LP I was testing some I heard about. I do not want to win if everybody thinks I''m cheating and it's not fair to everyone else. Sorry didn't mean to make everyone upset.
JC left out that he got all of his 2006 FIFA achievements on the same day (minus the one he did over 5 months ago). Now in theory he COULD have been doing those challenges all this time, and then went and finished up today, but in reality no one would skip the 450 easy points for months. And he did this on the same day he boosted out all of Lost Planet. Getting level 50 online in LP is a very time consuming endeavor.
Now most of you can't see, but he has a secret 150 point achievement. That one is insanely uber, and to get it you have to beat the game on extreme & find all of the target marks. Which is amazing that he has that achievement, yet he hasn't beaten anything other than the first level and he hasn't found the markers.
How he got those achievements, I don't know, but whether it was done on accident or maliciously, it's cheating and he shouldn't be in this competition.
well I'll be damned, another challenge lost but this time by a cheater :( it's not fair i tell ya. And Jcnet is right about z36, i though it was weird at first seeing as Jc gained the lead in the last challenge. Then i decided to check out z36 gamer card on xbox.com and there is no way you can get 2 lvl 50 in a day plus he only has the first and last lvl achievements.
Oh joy, I knew it wouldn't take long for one of these challenges to get ruined by a cheater. I was afraid that somebody was accusing myself, Kaens or JC of cheating since we are the people who have won so far. Its a shame I have no time to smash on some games to throw down some points. nor do I have much left to pilfer.
Is this a glitch or something? It looks like he's playing it right now. Or is this a case of starting an online match and waiting out the timer with a second account or something?

I agree that the fact avatar calls them 'achievements' is a joke. But people will always use them so sometimes it has to be done to ensure a win. Granted I would have won that last challenge even if I didn't use avatar but I wanted to go for a personal record of most points earned in a day.
Besides I've owned avatar since the day it came out in late 07, over half a year of holding on to that game without using it for points = I deserve some leniency for using it :p
Personally I won't ever use a game like avatar. I think that it is against the spirit of a challenge to use a game just for its achievements, that's why I'll most likely never win.
Man am I relieved I won the viral badge on that last matchh. I woulda been highly annoyed if I had used avatar and some other easy games this match only to lose to someone that is cheating an extreme amount.
I may be generally outspoken against such matters but beyond that its even worse to steal a win in a challenge by cheating.
I'm pretty sure we all know who it is. I had no intention of winning this challenge but I'd like the person that wins it to actually do it legit.

That sucks about your 360 but I know how it feels. I'm on my 3rd one now. I didn't here of any problems with the PS3 but mine is an old one from the launch day.
Well.. my second 360 had a good run.. actually it had a horrible run, not even a year on my elite and it died tonight. My streak will end at 392 days.... To make matters worse my PS3 died last week after only 5 months. So I guess I am out of this challenge. I really REALLY hate next gen hardware.
darn it, i thought the challenge started yesterday. as a result of this i decided it was time for me to get the "Start a Real Band Already" achievement in GH3. rats. looks like i need some more.
